The measuring principle of the SMI (Strip Measurement Inductive) sensor family is based on electromagnetic induction and can be used in a variety of applications.

In continuous strip furnaces with furnace temperatures of up to 1,100 °C, inductive strip center measurement monitors the strip center position.

The inductive EMG VKI3 measuring device reliably detects the exact strip edge positions of metal strips and metal foils without contact in the ambient conditions of a rolling mill with heavy rolling oil, mist and dirt.
