Inductive strip centre and edge measurement
EMG EMI is used as an inductive high-precision strip center measurement at normal ambient temperatures (up to approx. 50 °C). This sensor has a center measuring accuracy of +/- 1 mm. A centerline measurement accuracy of +/- 1.5 mm is also available as an option (with constant strip thickness, material type and passline).
EMG EKI can be used as an inductive solution for strip edge measurement at normal ambient temperatures (up to approx. 50 °C) with a measuring accuracy of +/- 1 mm (with constant strip thickness, material type and passline).
The compact measuring frame made of anodized aluminium extrusions has inductive sensors that can be moved by electric motor on both sides of the edge. The two sensors above and below the strip are mechanically coupled in the side section via a synchronized shaft and follow the strip edges in rigid position control loops. The positions are continuously recorded via integrated displacement transducers. The strip position is calculated from the positions and the sensor overlap.
