EMG SMI Inductive Sensor

Inductive EMG Sensor Technology

Maintenance-free and contactless

In addition to our standard sensor, the well-known SMI, our reliable inductive sensors offer solutions for any ambient atmosphere in your plant.

Whether high temperatures in the furnace, aggressive environments in the pickling process or high-precision measurements, EMG's inductive sensors have a solution ready for you for these and many other areas of application!

Advantages of our inductive sensors

  • 01

Wide range of applications from 0.05 mm to 16 mm strip thickness (others on request)

  • 02

    Insensitive to ionising furnace atmosphere

  • 03

Insensitive to disturbances of the static field, e.g. during inspections by the plant personnel

  • 04

Insensitive to water and metal vapours from the treatment processes

  • 05

Insensitive to scale and metal-containing dust from mechanical processing

Our inductive sensors

  • EMG SMI Inductive Sensor

Inductive strip position measurement with EMG SMI is based on electromagnetic induction, in which the strip passes without contact between two center sensors located at the edges of the strip.

  • EMG IMH/IMM/IMU - Furnace sensor

In continuous strip furnaces with temperatures up to 1,100 °C, the inductive strip center measurement monitors the strip center position.

  • EMG VKI3

EMG VKI3 reliably detects the exact strip edge positions of metal strips in a rolling mill with heavy rolling oil, mist and dirt.

  • EMG IMR

Whether in pickling or rinsing systems, EMG IMR is the perfect solution for inductive strip centre measurement in aggressive and humid environments.

  • In temperature-stable environments up to 50 °C, our inductive EMI and EKI sensors deliver the absolute position of both strip edges, which is perfect for recoiling.
