EMG VKI3

Inductive strip edge position measurement EMG VKI3 in the rolling mill

EMG VKI3 strip edge position sensor

EMG VKI3

Whether it's rolling oil, mist or dirt: our EMG VKI3 inductive measuring device reliably detects the exact strip edge position of your metal strips and foils without contact – even in harsh rolling mill environments.

Function principle

The EMG VKI3 measuring device uses an inductive measuring principle with a coil system which reliably detects the exact strip edge positions of metal strips and metal foils without contact in the ambient conditions of a rolling mill with heavy rolling oil, mist and dirt.

The inductive EMG VKI3 measuring device detects the absolute strip edge position of all metallic materials on one side by means of the eddy currents generated in it. The measurement is largely independent of material and flat strip running height, since material influences and changes in strip running height can be partially compensated for by means of the integrated reference coil. For the center measurement accuracy, the material influences are completely compensated.

A sturdy aluminum housing protects the measuring electronics against water jets and temporary immersion in liquid.

Customer benefits

  • Maintenance-free strip edge and strip center measurement up to +/- 1 mm
  • Highly accurate strip width measurement
  • Compact design for cramped installation conditions
  • Integrated electronics in the measuring device without further external components
  • Various fieldbus interfaces for control and communication with the higher-level PLC
  • Integrated, factory calibrated sensor system (measuring and reference coils)

Precision under harsh conditions: The EMG VKI3 sensor operates reliably in environments with rolling oil and dirt, protected by a fully enclosed housing.
