EMG records sales increase, focuses on growth and invests at the Wenden site

EMG Automation GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of elexis AG based at Wendener Hütte, has considerably increased its incoming orders and sales as of 31 December 2021 compared to the previous year. In addition, the high-tech company is focusing on growth at the Wenden site. Investments in the production areas of more than 2.5 million euros are planned this year, as well as the hiring of more than 50 new colleagues.

This was announced yesterday by Dr. Rolf Merte, Chairman of the Management Board of EMG, at the traditional annual meeting of EMG retirees and pensioners, the social event in the region: "We are a very healthy company that is committed to Made in Germany and to the region. We have more than 75 years of tradition here in Wenden and are now consistently focusing on growth. In addition to hardware and software solutions, our path is new service-based digital business models. As a total solution provider for the requirements of our international customers and partners over the entire life cycle, we will position ourselves more profitably and successfully in our target markets."
One building block of the growth strategy is the integration of companies that support the planned growth with their technologies. A few days ago, for example, EMG signed the contract to purchase Mesacon Messelektronik GmbH from Dresden. This is the third recent acquisition of high-tech specialists that positions EMG as a leader in its markets. Production will now also take place in Wenden, which opens up further future prospects for the location and secures additional jobs.

EMG is also investing around 2.5 million euros at the Wenden site this year. On the one hand, in structural measures, such as the expansion of the production and logistics area. On the other hand, in new machines, such as a 3D coordinate measuring machine or a handling robot for mechanical production. Dr. Rolf Merte emphasises: "Through these investments, we are ensuring state-of-the-art working conditions for our employees and are thus also expressing our commitment to the location and our identification with the region."

EMG currently employs around 350 people at its Wenden site. 36 of them are apprentices who benefit from the industrial or commercial training opportunities at EMG. In addition, more than 40 external companies use EMG's training workshop for the basic training and exam preparation of their apprentices. EMG has been providing training in the region for more than 75 years. Since then, around 1,300 young people have completed their training here.
